More containers at Gothenburg
In Q3/2022, the Port of Gothenburg continued to expand its market share in Sweden as well as in comparison to nearby major ports in Northern Europe.
The port currently holds a 53% share of the Swedish container market (+3%). In total, 655,000 teu were handled in 9M/2022, representing an overall improvement of 6% compared to the same period last year. The majority of the port’s container volumes are processed by terminal operator APM Terminals.
The intermodal trend continues with the volume of container freight being transported by rail rising by 13% to 385,000 teu. While the number of new vehicles handled at the port totalled 155,300, a drop of 18%, ro-ro traffic saw an uptick of 2%, to 426,000 units. 284,000 t of dry bulk were handled, representing an increase of 56%.
