More coal transports in Kazakhstan
Between January and July 2023, the Kazakhstan railway KTZ transported 145.9 million t of cargo by rail. 40% of the total volume or more than 60 million t were coal, from which 41.7 million t were delivered within the country and 18.3 million t of solid fuel were exported.
KTZ is planning different measures to further boost the business and increase capacity. For the autumn-winter season for example, it aims to deploy around 22,000 t gondola cars in coal transportation, or 2,000 cars more than in the previous heating season.
Furthermore, the company is creating a roadmap with measures for the routing of services and the preparation of fleets to ensure uninterrupted and regular coal transports. (ben)
