More capacity between France and Caribbean
During the visit of a delegation to Guadeloupe, French Guyana, and Martinique on 20 - 24 March 2023, Dunkerque-Port and its deputy director general Daniel Deschodt were able to meet numerous players in the Antilles’ transport sector.
As a major provider of transport connections between Dunkerque and the Antilles, CMA CGM is planning to expand its capacity with seven new biogas-powered container vessels, three with 7,900 teu and four with 7,300 teu capacity, which are to be introduced in 2024.
Based on the recognised competence of the professionals of the port of Dunkirk, almost all West Indian bananas as well as some of the products leaving mainland France are handled in a weekly rotation of shipping services covered by a partnership charter between all supply chain stakeholders. (lh)
