More automation in pgb-Europe's warehouse
Dematic has automated pgb-Europe’s new pallet high bay warehouse in Melle (Belgium). For the supplier of fixing materials and hand tools the specialist in logistics automation has installed two storage and retrieval machines, a conveyer system for pallets with an automatic precision measurement and control device as well as three driverless transport systems.
The automation solution links up the existing order picking warehouse with the new high bay warehouse. Overall, the storage facility has room for up to 13,400 pallets for bulk ware. Furthermore, the system allows pgb-Europe to move 10% more weight per day between its warehouses and therefore significantly increase its efficiency.
In the new pallet high bay warehouse, the company stores primarily bulk ware from the manufacturing plants in Poland and Vietnam and processes orders for despatching the goods to destinations across Europe. The complex serves as a buffer store for articles that are currently not required in the order picking warehouse. (mw)
