More ATR 72-600Fs and B777Fs

FedEx Express has confirmed the purchase of ten additional ATR 72-600 freighters, adding to a previous order for 30 units. Deliveries of the new turboprops are scheduled between 2027 and 2029.

The purpose-built ATR 72-600F is the only regional freighter currently in production and plays a vital role in FedEx’s feeder network. The ATR 72-600F features a large cargo door, a cargo loading system and a flexible interior with up to 75 m³ of volume and a payload of 9.2 t. It accommodates standard ULDs and is designed for reliable operations in diverse environments. The aircraft will replace older ATRs and enhance the company’s regional coverage.

In parallel, FedEx is expanding its widebody fleet with eight more Boeing 777Fs - three arriving in 2026 and five in 2027. These fuel-efficient jets will support long-haul operations as the company modernises its fleet while postponing the retirement of its MD-11Fs to 2032. (ah)
