More and longer trains every week
Rail services are becoming more and more important in the Spanish Port of Valencia. In H1/2022, 2,168 trains left or arrived at the port, carrying a total of 41,208 wagons, 8% more than in in H1/2021.
The average length of the trains was 493 m, up 20%, the total number of teu transported was 108,236, an increase of 5% compared to H1/2021. This also reflects an increase in the share of containers moved by rail from 7.8% in 2021 to 8.11% in 2022. In total, 1,043,297 t were handled in H1/2022, 6% more than in H1/2021.
The latest figures show that Valenciaport’s more than EUR 240 million investment is paying off, the port authority said. (ben)
