Molslinjen and Forsea merge
As part of its acquisition of Forsea Ferries, the shipping company Molslinjen has announced that Forsea's current CEO, Kristian Durhuus, will take charge of the operations of the merged shipping companies. Forsea Ferries is based in Helsingborg, Sweden and carries just under 20% of the vehicles that cross the Øresund between Denmark and Sweden each year.
Molslinjen of Aarhus, Denmark, operates, among other things, fast ferry connections between the island of Bornholm and the German and Danish mainland. With a total of 14 ferries, the shipping company also runs various smaller connections in Denmark.
The merger process currently underway also involves the previous CEO of Molslinjen, Carsten Jensen, becoming CEO of the owner holding company Nordic Ferry Infrastructure (NFI) in Oslo.
Durhuus sees the merger of the two shipping companies into a unit that is well equipped for the upcoming green turn in the industry as the biggest challenge. (pjm)
