MOL Sunflower is born
Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) has announced the name of the new company which will integrate two wholly owned ferry and coastal ro-ro vessel operators. It will be called MOL Sunflower.
The new company is a combination of two companies, MOL Ferry and Ferry Sunflower. Regular operations with four ferries and five coastal ro-ro vessels are expected to begin on 1 October 2023.
MOL Sunflower will carry on the "Sunflower" brand, respond to changes in customers’ transportation needs and further improve transport services. All this will be achieved by concentrating the management resources of the group companies, with a main focus on decarbonisation, digital transformation (DX), and solutions to logistics and social issues stemming from Japan's declining birth rate and aging society, as typified by the shortage of truck drivers.
