Modest progress at HHLA in 2018
The German port operator, Hamburger Hafen und Logistik (HHLA), has tabled its unaudited figures for financial year 2018. Revenues rose to EUR 1.29 billion, a 3% increase year-on-year, while earnings before tax and interest shot up by 18% to EUR 204 million.
HHLA’s container throughput grew by a modest 1.9% to 7.3 million teu. HHLA said that the throughput at its international container terminals in Odessa (Ukraine) and Tallinn (Estonia) increased, but the figures were not disclosed.
The group’s intermodal businesses reported a transport volume of 1.48 million teu, on a par with 2017. The volume was driven by rail transport, while road transport declined. HHLA will publish its final 2018 annual report and a business forecast for FY 2019 on 27 March 2019. (kd)
