MIP's 38% capacity expansion
Mersin International Port Management (MIP) in Turkey has launched the USD 455 million East Med Hub 2 (EMH2) Project to expand its terminal capacity.
Celebrated as part of the centenary of the Turkish Republic, it will increase the port's capacity from 2.6 million teu to 3.6 million teu, including the extension of the quay by 380 m to accommodate two ultra large container vessels simultaneously.
The first phase is due by Q1/2025 and completion is scheduled for Q1/2026. The project comprises new automated cranes and a 200,000 sqm logistics park and is expected to create 500 direct and 5,000 indirect jobs, marking MIP's commitment to Turkey’s economic development and the Turkish Republic's centenary.
