Milwaukee welcomes first international vessel

Port Milwaukee welcomed the Singapore-flagged ‘Patagonman’ as the first international vessel of the 2025 season on 30 March. The ship arrived after unloading cargo in Canada (Sault Ste Marie ON), following its transit through the St Lawrence Seaway, which reopened on 22 March. Port Milwaukee staff presented captain Eduard Kovalevskiy with a plaque to mark the occasion.

Last year, the port handled cargo from or destined for Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East. It recorded 42 international vessel visits in 2024, moving more than 324,000 t of cargo – a 70% increase compared to the previous year. Port Milwaukee continues to serve as a key logistics hub connecting Wisconsin and the Midwest to global markets. (ah)
