Milestone birthday for Korean Air Cargo in Vienna

It's been 20 years since Korean Air Cargo started to operate scheduled full-freighter flights between Incheon airport (ICN) and Vienna airport (VIE), and recently an official event was held in Vienna in celebrate this remarkable major milestone birthday.

While it began very modestly in 2004 with a single flight per week, Korean Air Cargo's full freighters now touch down at the Austrian capital's airport up to ten times a week. And what started out as just a secondary stopover on the way to the airline's cargo destinations further west has developed into one of the most important cargo hubs in the airline’s cargo network.

For Korean Air Cargo, VIE is primarily a cargo transfer point to and from Asia for the automobile production industry in Central and Eastern Europe, but electronics and pharmaceutical goods also account for a significant proportion of the carried tonnage. (dt)
