Middle Eastern hub lends name to AAL vessel
AAL Shipping has officially named its fifth super B-class vessel, the ‘AAL Dubai’, in a ceremony held on 12 March at the CSSC Huangpu-Wenchong Shipyard in Guangzhou (China).
This 32,000 dwt multipurpose heavylift vessel, designed to be methanol-ready, strengthens AAL’s next-generation fleet and marks the company’s 30th anniversary. Named after Dubai, a key project cargo hub where AAL has had a regional office since 2015, the vessel highlights AAL’s commitment to the Middle East.
“Naming one of our new super B-class vessels after Dubai underscores our dedication to the region,” said AAL CFO Liew Teck Liong. With its 700 t lifting capacity the vessel will serve Asia, Europe, the Middle East and the Americas, joining its sister ships there. AAL also expects to take delivery of the ‘AAL Dammam’ later this year. (ah)
