Merger with brakes manufacturer
ZF Friedrichshafen (Germany) has signed a binding agreement to take over Wabco, a USA-based supplier of safety and control systems for commercial vehicles, for the price of around EUR 6.2 billion. The merger will give ZF an opportunity to add braking systems to its range of competences for the first time.
ZF also plans to further accelerate the development of future-oriented technologies to enable autonomous functions in utility vehicles. Together, the companies expect to generate a turnover of about EUR 40 billion with their utility vehicle technologies.
Wabco employs a staff of around 16,000 in 40 countries worldwide. (ben)
