Meeting port call data challenges
The Supply Chain Resilience Taskforce, comprising IAPH, Chainport, DCSA, TIC 4.0, and IPCSA, has released the study “Port Call Optimisation through Data Quality” at the IAPH World Ports Conference in Hamburg. The report addresses challenges in adopting the IMO Compendium for standardised electronic data exchange in port calls, emphasising the importance of just-in-time (JIT) arrival practices.
Insights from port authorities and maritime stakeholders illustrate the benefits of enhanced data quality for port operations. The study includes a practical implementation checklist to guide ports in improving data quality.
With this initiative, the taskforce aims to boost supply chain resilience through better data visibility and collaboration across the maritime industry. Participating organisations underscored the role of JIT standards in driving efficiency, sustainability, and operational improvements.
The report serves as a resource for ports beginning their JIT optimisation journey, with a focus on sharing global best practices and supporting the industry's digital transformation. (pb)
