Maxed out, but with plans for the future
Working at full capacity, the Port of Trois-Rivières in Canada saw a stable freight throughput of 4.2 million t in 2023, with consistent volumes in the dry bulk, liquid bulk, and general cargo segments. President and CEO Gaétan Boivin attributes this achievement to the collaborative efforts of port stakeholders and the Port Authority team.
Preparations are underway to increase the port’s capacity and productivity while prioritising sustainable development. Progress on the “on course for 2030” strategic plan includes joining the net-zero challenge for emissions reduction and advancing modernisation projects like reconstructing pier 17 and building a new pier 16. The port has also reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable cruise tourism and community engagement, including partnerships with the Abenaki First Nation. (pb)
