Masks from China, flowers from Kenya
Ahead of Valentine’s Day, IAG Cargo transported 438 t of flowers (approximately 18 million stems) across its network. Over the past few weeks, its five sister airlines have been running flights across its network, including four flights a week from Nairobi into London Heathrow and the USA, performed via its "constant fresh" offering.
Partnering with the logistics company Senator International from Hamburg, IAG Cargo also transported over a million protective face masks to Germany - following the country's new rules requiring individuals to wear medical-grade face masks when in the workplace, public transport and in shops.
The company utilised a B777-200 passenger aircraft converted into a freighter to charter a flight from Shanghai to Munich carrying over 17,000 boxes (21.1 t). (ah)
