Maritime decarbonisation in Singapore
Singapore's maritime and port authority has launched the formation of its own global centre for maritime decarbonisation. To start with, the MPA and six founding partners - BHP, BW Group, Eastern Pacific Shipping, Foundation Det Norske Veritas, Ocean Network Express and Sembcorp Marine - have raised a USD 90 million fund for the centre. Its aim is to promote the maritime industry’s energy transition and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
The MPA claimed that currently more than 30 organisations, including shipping companies, classification societies, terminal and tank operators, and financial institutions, have already expressed an interest in joining the centre's initiative. (cd)
