Maritime chooses Midlands Gateway as rail HQ
Multi-modal logistics company Maritime Transport has selected Segro Logistics Park East Midlands Gateway in the UK as its rail headquarters. The 91,054 sqm rail terminal will handle up to sixteen 775 m-long freight trains daily and provide storage capacity for over 5,000 teu – which is equal to 55,000 pallets of cargo.
A purpose built office will become the rail headquarters. The railfreight terminal is expected to be completed by late 2019.
It is the first railfreight interchange in the East Midlands and will connect to the Castle Donnington freight line, providing direct access to the UK’s network of railfreight interchanges and all major UK ports. (ben)
