Marfin opts for fuel check solution
The Monaco-based ship manager firm Marfin Management will use bunker trace to track marine fuel, using synthetic DNA markers at specific points of the supply chain, and record each transaction in a block chain-based solution.
It is one of the solutions make businesses comply with the international maritime organisation’s (IMO) 2020 sulphur cap. Bunker Trace, which was launched in October last year, enhances marine fuel traceability and provides a chain of custody for quality assurance in the bunker fuel supply chain.
Marfin Management, which has been managing and operating handymax to ultramax dry cargo vessels since 1926, will adopt this tool to manage the risk of non-compliant or potentially dangerous contaminated marine fuels used on its ships. (mw)
