Making ore transports more efficient and sustainable
Work on TransANT, a pioneering wagon innovation for the international freight transport market, began in 2018. This joint venture is based on cooperation between the Austrian Rail Cargo Group and the steel group voestalpine.
The first wagons, which consist of 13 double units including superstructures, were recently delivered to voestalpine’s affiliate LogServ. All of the units will be delivered by the end of the year, coming to a total of 675 m in length and 1,170 t in weight. Compare to conventional platform wagons, the new model is able to load up to an extra 4 t in weight. (ben)
