Major TEN-T links to be finished by 2030
The members of the European Parliament have backed an update of the EU’s plan to build a large inland transport network connected through ports and terminals in the EU.
Under the new rule, major transport infrastructure projects should be completed by the end of 2030. Railways in the core TEN-T network will be electrified, running at speeds of 100 km/h for freight and crossing internal EU borders in less than 25 minutes on average by the end of 2030.
Safe and secure truck parking places at least every 150 km will have to be set-up along major EU roads. Furthermore, transport infrastructure projects with Russia and Belarus will be halted, while links with Ukraine and Moldova will be reinforced. (ben)
