Maersk's Middle Eastern maximum
Maersk recently inaugurated its largest logistics park in the Middle East at its site at Jeddah Islamic Port. The hub provides multimodal connections to sea, land and air. In a ceremony attended by representatives from the General Ports Authority of Saudi Arabia as well as Maersk and Unilever.
Measuring 225,000 sqm, the site at Jeddah’s port will offer warehousing, cold chain, distribution and customs services.
With Saudi Arabia’s port sector rapidly growing and setting records in terms of performance efficiency, Maersk can further solidify its trade in the region.
The new park will also contribute to development at the port and help to boost the local industry. The facility will draw up to 70% of its electricity from 64,000 sqm of rooftop solar panels. It will also use electric equipment and electric trucks within the facility and include an in-house women’s academy. (mk)
