Maersk responds to calls for greener haulage
In Brazil, Maersk has conducted two pilots with heavy-duty electric tractor units designed for the transport of containers (FCL). The two-week pilots were carried out with two different EV truck manufacturers on a 100 km span in the metropolitan region of Sao Paulo, and a 230 km span in the state of Santa Catarina.
For the pilots, Maersk installed electric charging stations in its operational areas to ensure night-time charging. Both consumers and customers are demanding more sustainable business practices.
Over half of Maersk's top 200 customers have already committed to the UN Global Compact, which calls for support for the 17 sustainable development goals to be reached by 2030. (ben)
