Maersk opens Dakar warehouse
Maersk has opened its first integrated logistics hub in Senegal, expanding its West Africa footprint with a 10,000 m² facility near the port of Dakar.
The site offers 5,000 m² of indoor storage, 500 m² of outdoor space and over 7,000 pallet slots. Designed to support regional and cross-border flows, it provides value-added services such as palletisation, labelling and distribution. A warehouse management system and electronic data interchange enable real-time visibility and system integration.
The company aims to prioritise sustainability and safety, with 60% of operations powered by solar energy and the use of electric equipment. The hub strengthens Maersk’s West Africa network, which covers eight countries. (js)
