Maersk continues logistics strategy
The building permit has been issued and A.P. Moller – Maersk will begin the construction of a new flow warehouse in Duisport, a major European inland navigation and rail logistics hub. The plans show a 43,000 sqm warehouse including cross dock and pallet storage facilities.
Scheduled to be operative by Q3/2023, the warehouse’s 84 dock levellers will handle up to 32,000 feu. The property has a direct water connection to the Rhine.
In Q2/2022, Maersk opened five new warehouses globally, equal to 178,000 sqm, adding to a total active capacity of 226 warehouses and 3.4 million sqm worldwide.
Several additional Maersk warehouses are planned to go into operation in Europe in the coming months. Maersk thus continues its rapid advance into logistics handling and freight forwarding sector. (sh)
