Maersk bypasses the Red Sea
In response to the volatile situation in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, the Maersk ME2 service will temporarily be diverted via the Cape of Good Hope. The adjusted route will include Jebel Ali (UAE), Mundra and Jawaharlal Nehru (India), Port Tangier (Morocco), Algeciras (Spain), and Salalah (Oman), omitting westbound stops at Salalah and Jeddah.
The “Maersk Gibraltar”, departing from Port Tangier on 23 January 2024, is the first vessel to be affected. Connections to northern Europe and the Mediterranean will be provided via Algeciras and Tangiers, with added feeders to Valencia (Spain) and Vado (Italy). (pb)
