Lübeck Port welcomes larger ships
The Port of Lübeck has achieved a significant milestone with the completion of the new berth (Anleger 5), allowing larger ships of up to 250 m in length and 38.5 m in width to dock and be processed using the ro-ro method at the Skandinavienkai in Lübeck-Travemünde.
Initiated in October 2021, the project was successfully completed by June 2023 and is now in regular operation. It marks a crucial step in the port's 2030 development plan (HEP) to accommodate larger ships. The new facility will primarily handle ro-ro traffic for Finnlines and Wallenius SOL.
The total investment was approximately EUR 25 million, with support from the state of Schleswig-Holstein. The port's development plan also focuses on infrastructure improvements, digitisation, and optimisation. (pb)
