LTG Cargo to despatch test train to Trieste
The Lithuanian carrier LTG Cargo, the freight arm of the Lietuvos Geležinkeliai group (LTG), is set to launch regular services to and from Italy. LTG Cargo’s first intermodal test train has been prepared to leave for the port of Trieste.
During the test run, semi-trailers will be transported first from Kaunas (Lithuania) to Germany, from where they will travel to Trieste with the assistance of partners. The port of Trieste Cargo will handle cargo flows from Turkey and other countries of the region to Scandinavia as well as shipments in the opposite direction. Initially, the train will run twice a week.
The service allows LTG Cargo to stay efficient and competitive in international freight transport services and to support the further shift of freight transport from the roads to the railways. (ben)
