Louisville: 3,359 fraudulent IDs in one week
For the second time in a week, US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers in Louisville (KY) discovered 2,265 counterfeit driver’s licences inside an inbound package at Louisville’s Port of entry on 19 October 2022. The first seizure of more than 1,000 fake IDs occurred exactly a week before, on 12 October.
During a routine examination, CBP officers inspected a package that was manifested as trousers. Inside, the officers found a total of 1,094 US driver’s license identification cards, five Australian driver’s licence identification cards, two Canadian driver’s licence identification cards, and two UK driver’s licence identification cards.
The licences had arrived from Hong Kong and all lacked security features and were of poor quality. Furthermore, the shipment was to be sent to an individual residence, in Cincinnati, which is not typical. (cj)
