Long haul trial with electric powered mega truck
DB Schenker is testing Scania's 64 t heavy and 24 m long fully electric powered truck in Sweden. The journey between the terminals in Jönköping and Södertälje takes around three hours.
As part of the project, the R 450e will replace a diesel-powered truck and transport goods between the terminals in the evening and at night before distributing them to customers during the day.
The vehicle has seven batteries with a capacity of 728 kwh. The number of batteries has been increased so that the truck can cover the 300 km long test route without intermediate charging in Nordic weather conditions. (ben)
