Logistics companies demand government action
The German freight forwarders' associations LBS and LBT have again voiced their strong protest against the “anti-transit package” adopted by the government of the Austrian state of Tyrol.
This new set of regulations will increase the number of trucks to be processed in blocks at the German-Austrian border crossing and impose further restrictions on truck traffic through Austria on the north-south corridor. Tyrol intends to bring forward the start of the weekend traffic ban for trucks to 7 a.m. on Saturdays, to extend the sectoral traffic ban to yet more types of cargo and to apply the night-time driving ban to EUR VI trucks as well.
In a letter to the Bavarian government LBS and LBT express their urgent concern about the negative effects on trade and demand the end of Tyrol’s blockade policy. (ben)
