Local freight railway lands limestone haulage contract
After winning the requisite call to tender, the German narrow gauge railway Brohltalbahn recently began hauling limestone between Kerkerbach and Neuwied three times a week on behalf of Rhein Cargo.
The Brohltalbahn trains that run in Lahntal (Hessen) are usually made up of eleven or twelve so-called "tad" wagons. Empty trains run to Kerkerbach on Mondays and Wednesdays and return loaded to the Rhine on Wednesday afternoons and Fridays.
Once at the river, the loaded wagons are assembled into a 23 wagon blocktrain and transported by Rhein Cargo to Duisburg (Germany). (ben)
