LNG car carrier on maiden voyage
The port of Immingham welcomed the “CMA CGM Indianapolis” on its maiden voyage. Operated by the CMA CGM Group, the LNG-powered vessel is the first of four car carriers, each with a 7,000-vehicle capacity. The vessel, measuring 200 m in length, operates at a speed of 19 knots.
ABP's regional director for the Humber, Simon Bird, expressed delight at the vessel's visit, highlighting the Humber's role in automotive supply chains. John Blessington, managing director of CMA CGM UK, added that LNG powered vessels were part of the company’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions. (pb)
