Lithuania: drawing on air cargo know-how
Avion Express, a Vilnius (Lithuania)-based ACMI operator originally established as a cargo and passenger airline in 2005 and now part of the Avia Solutions Group, re-enters the airfreight market. It offers capabilities of up to 17/24 t of cargo in the cargo compartment and in the cabin of A320/A321 based in Central and Eastern Europe.
Its FAA-approved subsidiary Avion Express Malta also eyes the US market. Meanwhile, the "cargo seat bag" offered by Colibri Aero and J&C Aero, also from Vilnius, has been approved by EASA. This 76x76x147 cm kit for a triple seat, with up to 75 kg of cargo to be stored on the seat and additional 9 kg under the seat, totalling 252 kg per block, offer operators of A319/320/321 universal cargo seat bags for commercial and humanitarian cargo transportation inside passenger cabins.
