Liquefied biomethane to power fleet
United European Car Carriers (UECC) has expanded its collaboration with Titan Clean Fuels, securing a major liquefied biomethane (LBM) supply agreement to reduce its fleet’s greenhouse gas emissions by over 75,000 t in 2025.
The deal includes 12,000 t of ISCC-EU certified LBM for bunkering at the port of Zeebrugge, fuelling five dual-fuel LNG pure car and truck carriers (PCTCs). This move supports UECC’s 'sail for change' initiative, enabling lower-carbon transport for clients like Toyota and Ford.
UECC’s CEO Glenn Edvardsen emphasised that the agreement will help the company ensure compliance with upcoming EU maritime regulations and achieve its target of cutting carbon intensity by 45% by 2030. UECC also plans to add multi-fuel battery hybrid PCTCs to its fleet by 2028. (pb)
