Linking Lyon to the cargo world
Two weeks ago, on 17 September 2021, Qatar Airways Cargo and ECS Group celebrated one year of serving Lyon. Since its first flight, the international cargo airline, together with the global GSSA ECS Group, has flown over 5,000 t of cargo out of France's second largest city.
Initially planned as a new passenger destination for the summer of 2020, prior to the upheaval caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, Lyon was instead subsequently set up from scratch and in record time as a cargo gateway.
Four times a week, a flexible mix of passenger-to-cargo conversions (B777, B787, A330 and A350) and full-freighters links Lyon eastbound via Doha to over 50 destinations across Asia, Far East and Oceania. Westbound, Qatar Airways Cargo offers routes out of Lyon via Liège and Luxembourg to the Americas. (ah)
