Linking Jacksonville with South America
The ocean carrier MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company has combined two existing container services to create a new direct route between the Jacksonville Port Authority (Jaxport) and the West Coast of South America.
This new Ecuador-NWC and Scan Baltic-USA rotation, which now includes Jaxport as a weekly port of call, offers connections between Jacksonville and ports in Ecuador, Peru, Panama, and Costa Rica.
The service, which began in February 2024 with the “MSC Vita”, uses larger 9,000-teu vessels. It is Jaxport’s first and only direct container service with the West Coast of South America, providing an important link for various goods, including reefer cargoes, food products, clothing, and other retail items.
