Linking Batumi with North Africa and Spain
Batumi International Container Terminal (Bict) in Georgia, a subsidiary of International Container Terminal Services (ICTSI), will enhance its connections to North Africa and Spain with the launch of Mediterranean Shipping Company's (MSC) improved Batumi – Gioia Tauro service starting mid-April.
It will offer weekly calls to and from Batumi with a new rotation that includes additional direct ports and reduced transit times, covering ports such as Tekirdağ, Derince, Aliaga, Marsaxlokk, Algeiers, Casablanca, Sines, Valencia, Gioia Tauro, Burgas, and Batumi.
Nikoloz Gogoli, Bict CEO, said that this service could boost Georgia's foreign trade by providing a direct link with key regions and opening new trade routes. It will also reduce transit times and improve the efficiency of supply chains, he added.
