Less railfreight traffic in Latvia
The transport company LDZ Cargo generates the bulk of LDz Group's revenue.
Latvia’s railway infrastructure transported 11.59 million t of freight in the first three quarters of this year, 31% less than in the same period of 2022. In the first nine months of 2023, grain, grain products, seeds and fruit (33.2%), oil and oil products (18.0%) and coal (12.4%) made up the largest part of the freight carried by rail.
LDZ Cargo launched freight transport operations in neighbouring Estonia in 2023. The carrier also opened a branch and developed new routes in the country, hauling 272,000 t of freight in the first nine months of the year. (ben)
