Leonardo takes stakes in Italian cargo drone start-up
By exercising an option stipulated in 2021 and linked to the achievement of pre-established objectives, Leonardo, an Italian high-tech company which operates mainly in the defence, aerospace and security sectors, has acquired a stake in the start-up Flyingbasket and appointed a member to the board of directors by co-option.
As a result of this transaction, Leonardo will gain about 10% of the company. 25% will be held by Cysero - a venture capital fund promoted by AVM Gestioni and Kilometro Rosso, which invested directly in Flyingbasket in March 2022 - and the remaining 65% will be divided among the founders and managers of the South Tyrolean drone start-up.
Founded in 2015 and based in Bolzano, Italy, Flyingbasket designs and produces cargo drones with a payload capacity of 100 kg. (ah)
