Laurels for OPC as a working place
An award was recently given to Operadora Portuaria Centroamericana (OPC), the Honduran subsidiary of the Philippines-headquartered terminal and port operator International Container Terminal Services (ICTSI). The affiliate was recognised as among the most attractive companies to work for in the logistics and distribution category, according to Central America-based recruitment portal Tecoloco.com.
OPC operates Puerto Cortes in Honduras, the largest port in the Central America 4’s (CA-4) region – serving Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua. The study, which was conducted from November 2018 to January 2019, evaluated 15 factors on employer preference, including remuneration, benefits, growth opportunities and work environment. OPC achieved good scores in a panel of more than 300 companies that were surveyed.
Mariano Turnes, OPC chief executive officer, stressed the fact that the recognition underscores ICTSI’s commitment to investing in the development of human capital in Honduras. A larger workforce is to be employed, since ICTSI completed its USD 145 million Pier 6 green field development for OPC recently. (fd)
