Latecomers lose volume, retain places
In addition to the overview of European cargo airports in 2023 based on data from ACI Europe, which you can find on p. 6 of today's ITJ 09-10/2024, the airports of Paris (CDG) and Luxembourg (LUX) have now published their results for the month of December, which arrived after the journal went to press.
CDG handled 1,814,953 t of air freight last year, only 1.7% less than in 2022 and 4.6% less than in 2019, narrowing the gap behind FRA (1.828 million t) and maintaining second place ahead of IST (1.517 million t).
According to the Luxembourg Administration of Aerial Navigation (AAN), 794,902 t of airfreight were handled at LUX last year, a drop of 18.4% compared to 2022 (2019: -6.8%). In December, however, it was closer than ever to the previous year's result. The airport therefore remains in 9th place behind CGN (859,000 t) and ahead of MXP (665,655 t). (ah)
