Latam Group increases cargo capacity on widebody aircraft
After three days of work at Sao Paulo’s maintenance centre, Latam Group announced the first B777-300ER reconfiguration. This aircraft's economy cabin had passenger seats temporarily removed to increase its cargo transportation capacity by 20%. Due to its suitability for long haul routes, Latam Cargo Group decided to modify this aircraft to temporarily fly to Asia in order to collect medical supplies for Latin America.
The first batch of the 240 million masks acquired by the Brazilian federal government arrived onboard a B787-9 at Sao Paulo GRU on 6 May.
The ministry of infrastructure hired 42 flights on the route Shanghai - Auckland - Santiago de Chile to transport 960 t of masks. The masks were purchased by the ministry of health and will be delivered to 27 federal stations in Brazil.
