Latam Cargo receives first converted freighter
Only few days before Christmas and one year after Latam Cargo and Boeing signed a contract for the conversion of three B767-300ER (extended range) passenger aircraft to B767-300BCF (Boeing converted freighters), the Latin American carrier received the first converted aircraft.
The unit expanded Latam Cargo's fleet to a total of ten freighter aircraft. Initially, the converted aircraft will operate in South America, Central America and Europe.
The Latam Cargo Group will receive the second freighter in 2019, and the third one in 2020. The fleet of twelve aircraft will significantly boost the carrier's cargo capacity.
The changes are part of the company's new strategy announced in April 2018, which is based on a uniform fleet of B767-300 freighters. Its last two B777Fs will be removed from service. (ah)
