Latam Cargo picks Brussels as its European hub
Latam Cargo is tripling the number of flights to Brussels airport (BRU), from four to twelve per week. The airport of the Belgian capital will thus become the cargo carrier's main European transport hub from 27 October. The flights will be operated by a B767 with a cargo capacity of some 60 t.
The inbound flights will ship mainly perishable goods, such as flowers, from Ecuador to Europe. On their return journeys to Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Chile, the aircraft will carry pharmaceuticals and other time-critical cargo and automotive parts.
For many years, BRU has been specialising in the transport of time and temperature-critical goods with one of the largest areas of temperature-controlled warehouses in Europe and by using refrigerated containers for moving the goods on the tarmac. (ah)
