Latam Cargo helps more than 3,000 UNHCR refugees
Latam Group has shipped more than 60 t of humanitarian aid free of charge in Latin America through its solidarity plane programme, benefiting more than 3,000 refugees assisted by UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency.
During this first year of partnership, humanitarian aid was mobilised in three countries in the region: Panama, Brazil and Chile. In Panama, a historical transport took place: 600 tents, equivalent to 40 t, were carried from Colombia to Panama, for use as temporary shelters for thousands of refugees arriving in the region.
In Brazil, the group transported 48 refugee housing units for approximately 190 people, in addition to more than 7 t of hygiene products, diapers and clothes for refugees in the country.
In Chile, it transported 2 t of waterproof plastic tarpaulins to be used in the emergency shelters set up by UNHCR. (cj)
