Last year paid off for Costamare

Costamare, a Greek owner and provider of containerships for charter, posted a net profit for 2021 of USD 404.1 million, a leap compared to the result of the previous year (USD 21.6 million). The revenues totalled USD 3.4 billion. With a fleet of 123 vessels, including 46 dry bulk ships, the company generated a net income of above USD 400 million.

Costamare’s CFO, Gregory Zikos, said: "On the containerships side, market conditions remained firm with strong demand and logistical disruptions continuing to impact the sector. We chartered a total of 35 second-hand vessels during the year, which added incremental contracted revenues of USD 1.4 billion."

The company has 48 years of history in the international shipping industry and a fleet of 85 containerships with a total capacity of approximately 671,000 teu -including eight newbuild vessels currently under construction and six vessels that it has agreed to sell. (sh)
