Kufstein: HGV block processing to resume

Processing HGVs in blocks began again in Kufstein on the Austro-German border on 27 May. The only exception this week will be on 30 May (Ascension Day). The resumption of this procedure is likely to cause mile long queues of HGVs on Austria’s Inn valley motorway.

Trucks will either have to drive slowly or they will be forced to stop when the maximum capacity of 250 – 300 HGVs per hour is reached. The Upper Bavarian South police headquarters in Germany says that HGV block processing can lead to congestion on the A8 Munich-Salzburg (A8) motorway.

Tyrol also plans to process HGVs in blocks from 6 June up to Whitsun (9 June), and from 11 – 13 June, as well as during the week of Corpus Christi (except on 20 June). (ben)
