Korean cargo carriers reduce domestic services
Starting today, 23 August 2019, as part of its strategy to expand its overseas services, Korean Air Cargo is adding a third weekly flight to its Incheon (South Korea) - Anchorage (AK, USA) – Miami (FL, USA) - São Paulo (Brazil) - Santiago (Chile) - Lima (Peru) - Los Angeles (CA, USA) - Incheon B777F route.
The departure from Incheon will mainly include industrial products (mobile phone parts, wireless communication devices, automobiles, flat panel displays, electronic components and aircraft engines). On the return, the cargo is expected to largely be perishables, such as asparagus, blueberries, cherries, mangoes and salmon.
Meanwhile, local news reports suggest that Korean Air and Asiana will suspend some domestic cargo services at the start of October to help improve profits. Citing low demand, the airlines said they will stop cargo services to Daegu, Cheongju and Gwangju. (ah)
